Service Projects Spring 2024:
10th Grade:
I am excited to announce that the Spring service project will be another trash-picking event. There are more details about the Neighborhood Cleaning Event at the link below:

Remember to sign up at your earliest convenience as this event is not limited to just AOC students. The Neighborhood Clean-up will take place on April 27th at three different locations:
If you are unavailable on April 27th, contact me!
By the way, If you are new to the SCV Volunteering website and still need an account, do not worry, it is easy. Just create an account for your parent or guardian if they do not already have one, and then add your account under it. Once you have completed these steps, you should be all set.
11th Grade:
For this semester's service project, AOC Juniors will be partnering with the Kids & Art organization.
The Kids & Art Foundation is a California nonprofit organization that supports pediatric patients with cancer and other critical medical conditions, their siblings, families, and support teams using the power of art and creativity. Their goal is to provide forms of art to patients that helps ease the stress, anxiety, and trauma endured by children in treatment while also allowing for joy, creativity, and self-expression.
Our goal at AOC is to create cards for patients through words of encouragement or simple forms of art. This semester, we will be requiring 4 CARDS per student to allocate for the time requirement of a service project. Please remember to put dedicated effort towards this project as the cards will be delivered directly to the Kids & Art organization. All finished cards should be handed to Mrs. Rubay in Room 104 as well as submitted digitally to this assignment. Please let me know if you have any questions!
12th Grade:
This semester's 12th grade service project will be the SCV Cowboy Festival! Hosted on Saturday April 20th and Sunday April 21st, you must volunteer for a shift listed for the Cowboy Festival from the following link.

Volunteer Activities
Since many in-person volunteer opportunities are closed due to COVID-19, NHS is being more lenient as to what is considered "volunteering." In short, any action of serving the community will count towards the volunteering hour requirement.
For example:
For independent volunteering (like cleaning up trash), please have your parent/guardian sign your service hour log.
We will be using the honor system this semester, so please be honest when recording your service hours.
For example:
- Cleaning up trash around your neighborhood/the community
- Online volunteering
